Year 1 at the White Palace!

Year 1 at the White Palace!

Today we had an interesting and enjoyable trip to the White Palace. We took gifts of toys for the orphans and HRH Crown Princess Katherine spoke to us about the importance of kindness and love, a great message for the festive period! We had a tour of the Palace and many of the students asked insightful questions. We then enjoyed some sandwiches, cookies and juice. Everyone behaved very well and the visit was a worthwhile and pleasant experience.

Bravo Year 1!

Dear Parents,

It was great to see so many of you at our show today.

I was very proud of all the children today with the fantastic dancing and singing. I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your support with the costumes.

If you have any photographs of the children then could you please email it to me?

Best Regards,

Miss Jerath

Hour of Code

Hour of Code

This week the children enjoyed taking part in the Hour of Code that we annually have students take part in.

The Hour of Code is a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries. Anyone anywhere can organize an Hour of Code event.

There will be certificates for students taking part with their end of term reports.

If you would like to try this at home

Trip to the Museum of Science and Technology!

Trip to the Museum of Science and Technology!

Today Year 1 enjoyed a class outing to the Museum of Science and Technology. We saw some interesting household items from the past and talked about how life must have been different in times gone by. We saw some old toys and thought about how they compare with toys we have today. Then everyone enjoyed playing in the Children’s Science Centre. Our favourite part was the room which fools gravity and makes it really difficult to balance.

Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving!

For Thanksgiving we decided to make turkey handprints. We talked about why we celebrate Thanksgiving and what we were thankful for.

We need to realise that all families are different and we all have different traditions that we do during Thanksgiving. Many of our families come from different parts of the world and have many languages to share. We are all unique families and that should be shared. We can be thankful for people in our families, for good health, for shelter, and for good food.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Year 1 Celebrate Bonfire Night!

Year 1 Celebrate Bonfire Night!

The children enjoyed learning all about Guy Fawkes and Bonfire Night. They were very interested in the story of the gunpowder plot and asked lots of fantastic questions about the story.

The children explored different ways of painting fireworks. First they tried painting a picture on the computer. Then the children also tried printing using straws to create lovely firework patterns.

We hope everyone had a fun and safe bonfire night!
